Suggestions for forum2mail

Couple of suggestions. First, each line seems to start with "|"? The closer these messages are to email the less At 12:38 PM 3/2/2009, you wrote: ^^^^ a nice touch, but not that helpful when you >|| Your subscription on Windmasters Hill ^^^ hopefully the subject line already answered >|| Category: Baroness I'll guess the app won't support putting the >| Link: http://www.windmastershill.org/?q=node/206 ^^^ the spacing here is odd. I would expect there |
Looks like the topic/title is in the subject line, it's just obscured by the length I normally view
[Windmasters Hill] content type subscription for corwyn: Bowl with Sgraffito Man-Headed Leopard
I would suggest both removing "content type subscription for corwyn:" and decreasing the length of
"[Windmasters Hill]" to something shorter ([WM Forums] maybe?) to make the subject lines more readable.
Thx.
Corwyn
If you could at least get the subject line cleaned up that'd be very helpful.
Right now I get
[Windmasters' Hill] content type subscription for corwyn: Bowl,
as the subject line, which mostly defeats the purpose of forum2mail (as I can't read the subject line to see what it actually is.)
[Keep Forum] Bowl, Sgraffito, with green and yellow glaze
would be a lot more useful.

Bleh.

If it will make things easier, I"ll be glad to work on updating the format for these if I can get some level of access and info on where to start.
corwyn
As soon as I figure out how to change the format and what permissions that requires... ;)
Let's see how this displays.
Is this a category, or a forum?
Corwyn
Interestingly this uses the category template. Also, soft carriage returns are translated as "br" which clearly wasn't the intended result. Next try!
Well that clearly didn't go well.
<Intense dislike of website editors>
And yet more dislike of web wysiwyg, because it's not.
But only because I don't think the wysiwyg editor has the ability to edit the templates.
wysiwyg editor insists on trying to save formatting as HTML.
The base template with me not having modified anything.
What an odd tool.
seeing if plan text is actually plain text
Yeah, so if you save as plain text it will format correctly, but then if you open it again in the editor it reformats everything in screwed up HTML, and you have to reformat it again. Yippiee! But I think we're getting there ...
Well, that theory proves correct.
Editing this way is darned inconvenient.
and the sub template subscriptions_content_node-nid
Well, let's see how that survives the light of day
comment reply to check the format

Thanks for pointing this out. I agree that the format of these outbound alerts is really rough and needs some attention. I've been suffiently preoccupied with getting stuff working that I haven't had time to make it nice yet.
