Located in Central North Carolina, Windmasters' Hill is a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a 501c3 educational non-profit organization devoted to the research and recreation of most aspects of pre-17th-century Europe. It provides its members with an opportunity to participate in re-living the "days of old". Instead of just sitting and thinking about what used to be, we get out there and try it ourselves! Our activities range from the fighting arts to dancing to embroidery, blacksmithing, and calligraphy - if it's medieval, we do it.

As with any club, we have various local meetings and activities, but the primary historical recreation activity in the SCA is called an event. Our events do not usually re-enact specific historical events; instead, we attempt to create the atmosphere of a day at a royal tournament, a medieval festival, or some other enjoyable activity of the time. An event may include tournaments of rapier, archery, or armored combat (the SCA's own sport based on medieval tournament-style combat), arts & sciences displays and competitions, classes on topics of interest, Royal Court (where awards are given), dancing, singing, and of course sumptuous candle-lit feasts. Most importantly, they are a LOT of fun!

Windmasters' Hill is a part of an administrative region of the SCA known as a Kingdom. There are currently nineteen Kingdoms in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Australia. The Barony of Windmasters' Hill is a member of the Kingdom of Atlantia.

If you or any others you know have a similar interest in the Middle Ages or are just curious to see what it's all about, feel free to visit one of our local groups or contact anyone on this site for more information!
